Markha Valley Trek offers a wide variety of adventure from base region to plateau. Climbing up the high mountain passes, while crossing the Markha river at numerous points trace along the sheer rocky mass gives an exciting feeling.A memorable journey in ‘Little Tibet’; the vicinity of amazing hill vistas and dry mountains has beautiful rural parishes and lavish grazing lands altogether. This area is separated for the most time in a year due to heavy snowfall. Throughout summers, landscape panorama of this place provides amazing attractions of Markha Stream, mustard areas, small towns with Stok, Matho and Zanskar runs along in the background. Blue sheep and Ibex over shaky slopes are often spotted over here.

This is an easily available journey from Leh and results in a display of huge variety of natural scenery. There is a natural asylum of the Markha Area watched over by Kang Yatse (6400 m) from eastern end and the Zanskar mountain range at the southern west. You can also have spectacular scenes of the Karakoram Saser Kangri- having the peak of 7670m, Stok Kangri of 6150m, Kang Yatse of 6400m, and last but not the least Nun Kun of 7135meters.

While trekking or moving up you will find spread high towns, each with irrigated areas of wheat, barley, and mustard which overwhelms the scenery of this outstanding place, and Markha valley hike is an essential aspect of Hemis National Park, where you can meet animals anytime. What to Expect

Markha Valley trek is also known for being a home stay trek, where one can expect accommodation at most of the Ladakhi villages en-route. The trek goes inside the beautiful Hemis National Park and involves crossing of two passes, 1: Gandala La (15,748 feet) and 2: Kongmaru La, (17,060 feet). The trail has some exciting river crossing sections on the Markha River will pass through interesting Buddhist villages and rocky canyons. These are some of the features that make this trek a unique destination.

At your arrival to the capital, after the boarding and lodging process you shall be guided to visit the last city of pre- independent India then known as the ‘Lutyen’s city’ built by the British architect Edwin Lutyen in 1911. The main visiting the attractions will include the Rashtrapati Bhavan, Birla Mandir (Lakshminarayan Temple), and India Gate. Day 2DELHI – LEH (3,500 M / 11,550 FT) - BY FLIGHT 9W 1609 – DEP AT 0630 HRS / ARR AT 0745 HRS

After an early breakfast you are transferred to the domestic airport for your flight to Ladakh. This must be one of the most sensational flights in the world. On a clear day from one side of the aircraft can be seen in the distance the peaks of K2, Nanga Parbat, Gasherbrum and on the other side of the aircraft, so close that you feel you could reach out and touch it, is the Nun Kun massif. Upon arrival you will be received and transferred to to your Hotel. You would take a little time to settle in and acclimatize since you have gone from a relatively low elevation in New Delhi to over 11,000 feet! The rest of the day is at leisure for you to acclimatize.


Sightseeing in and around Leh. Visit the different monasteries around Leh and the interesting Leh Market in the evening.

Day 4Leh - Spituk to Zingchen(3700 mts/ 12139ft) 4-5hrs

In the early morning, we will make our move for Spituk, where from the accessories will be taken ahead on the horse. Do remember to take water and sunscreen lotions as the journey will start along an old vehicle street and continue in a dry and revealed area. After passing through the traumatized area one comes at the amazing and lavish Zingchen with green valley, where the Rumbak Stream moves into the Incredible Indus. This journey is going to be of sheer thrill and fun.

Day 5Zingchen (3700 mts/ 12139ft) to Ganda La Base (4545 mts/14911ft)5-6hrs

Go in to the National park of Hemis, where one may be lucky to experience the untamed snow-leopard, Lynx, a local breed of goat- Ladakhi Urial, great Tibetan sheep- Arghali, blue sheep- Bharal, red fox, wild dog- Dhole, marmot, Tibetan wolf and mountain hare. One begins going up progressively through an amazing stuff before attaining the valley resulting in the town of Rumbak after few spending on the entry charges. Get some rest at a tented teahouse run by local women. After a cup of hot and refreshing tea, proceed towards the home of Yuruche before attaining hiking at the bottom of Ganda La that is 4545m high. Here you will witness natures most spectacular glimpses of Stok Kangri and the entire Stok variety from the camp

DAY 06Ganda la Base (4545 mts/14911ft) to Skiu(3300mts/10826ft) via Gandala Pass(4900m)4-5hrs

It begins with the 2-hours of climbing towards Ganda La (4900m high). The common chorten and prayer banners indicate the top of the pass, where one may see blue lambs, marmots, and Arghali wandering in the mountains. Views of the substantial Zanskar Range and the outlying Himalayan series are also fabulous. After a brief relaxation, we will make a constant decline to Shingo and get a lunch.
You would describe it as a day after climbing for 2-hours through an amazing stuff before making hike at Skiu of height 3300m. Within this enjoyable place an old monastery is also situated with an old castle that was used for leisure of great royal families and a check point to their journey towards Srinagar.

DAY 07Skiu (3300mts/10826ft) to Markha(3800mts/12467ft)5-6hrs

From Skiu, travel through the Markha Stream and trek through the appealing valley on a fairly stage direction. The pathway goes across the stream at various levels, and goes winter period that include Lhatos- spiritual memorials for regional deities, and Mani walls- stones written with Buddhist entreaties. Throughout the peak period a number of marquee teahouses will be start for beverages and snacks. Markha is the biggest rural area in the valley at the altitude of 3800m, having about 20 homes, an ancient monastery, and a devastated castle.(Over Night in Markha)

DAY 08Markha(3800mts/12467ft) to Thachungtse(4250mts/13943mts)5-6hrs

The Markha valley pathway carries on older stone-mills, a damaged fort, and the admirable monastery of Techa, which settle upon a high cliff that emerges on top of Markha. After tasting the rural pleasure of Umlung, We get to sights of tremendous Mt. Kang Yatse of 6400m height, which will remain in the vision until one goes across Kongmaru La.
After having lunch in the Hangkar village that is the last one in the valley, we will proceed to the amiable natural field of Thachungste followed by overnight camping .

DAY 09Thachungtse(4250mts/13943ft) to Nimaling(4720mts/15484ft)4-5hrs

The first location over here is the astounding Nimalings Plateau, where the natives of the valley Markha carry their flocks to eat during the season of summer. At 4700mtrs, Nimaling is for highest camping on the journey, presenting breath-taking glances of the massive crest of Kang Yatse. (Over night in Nimaling)

DAY 10Nimaling(4720mts/15484ft) - Shangsumdo(3660m/12,010ft) via Kongmarula(5175mts)6-7hrs

After a satisfying morning meal, by passing Kongmaru La which is 5175m from sea level and the uppermost pass on the journey, and from here we will have an amazing perspective of the mighty Indus and Ladakh Range. The decline is quite extreme, but progressively levels out as firstly goes into Shang Mountainous, with its amazing stone structures. Further river voyages prevent the way before one comes at the sour-spring of Chuskurmo used in conventional medicinal practices by the Amchi physicians. At last you will have an overnight camping at Shang Sumdo.

DAY 11In the end: Shangsumdo(3660m/12010ft) to Leh(3,500 M / 11,550 FT) via Martselang

Enjoy the last, but a fun journey of 2-hour along a vehicle street to Martselang , where the vehicle will pick up for heading our way towards Leh.


Today is a day free at leisure to do one’s own activities and shopping in Leh Ladakh.


Early morning transfer to the air port, arrive in Delhi, visit old and new Delhi evening after the dinner transfer to international air port.
