Setting up the trek was very easy. I appreciated the quick feedback from the company when I first reached out for more info.
We were unlucky with the weather but it was still a nice trek. I really enjoyed my time and the change of scenery from the other big cities in India.
Sekhar was a tremendous guide and overall a great human. Very professional, personable, kind, and thoughtful. He felt bad we couldn’t see some of the views at the top of the mountain and wanted to make sure we got the most out of our trek. I had a fantastic time!
Had a blast with Off Road Adventure
My partner and I completed a 6 day trek to Sandakphu with our guide, Sekhar. He was great – very knowledgeable of local geology, plants, animals etc, super accommodating (helped us to find people to teach us how to make momos), and very social with us and everyone that we visited. We found that Off Road Adventures had the best prices in the area. It was a great trek with even greater people. Enjoy your trip with ORA. Ask for Team OFF ROAD ADVENTURE!
Overall, I would highly recommend Off Road Adventures and Sekhar (our guide). I went with 2 of my friends, and Off Road Adventures were able to accommodate our tight schedule by organizing a three day itinerary trekking through Singalila National Park and providing us with a personal guide. Sekhar was an incredible guide – he was extremely nice as well as knowledgeable about the area we were hiking through, since he’s done expeditions there for so many years already. All three of us are from the US, and Sekhar’s English was also really good, which was nice. This was truly an unforgettable experience and all three of us were thrilled that Sekhar was such a great guide and was able to show us 4 of the 5 highest peaks of the Himalayas.
A little bit about our actual trek – Each day, we trekked an average of 11 miles (or ~18km) – the first two days were mostly flat or uphill, and the third day was almost all downhill. All three of us thought that the 3 day trek was the perfect amount of time, especially as the downhill part on the third day made our legs rather sore, and we weren’t sure if we would have been able to complete a 4th day. We stayed in lodges up in the mountains during our two nights there, and I would recommend bringing some warm clothes, because although you don’t need it that much for the actual hiking, it gets really cold the second night on top of the mountain (I went in late November), and there’s no heat. We didn’t shower for the duration of the trip, so bringing baby wipes could be helpful, and there weren’t outlets to charge your phone, so I would recommend bringing a power bank as well.
A memorable Sandakphu – Phalut Trek
While we love trekking in Himalayas, we were a little concerned on this trek at the start of the monsoon season. Eventually there were only little and occasional rains. Great help in planning and preparation for this trek converted this into a memorable family event. We got a mesmerizing view of Kanchenjunga and Everest from Phalut. The misty and rhododendron studded valleys seemed out of the world. There are not a lot of options in terms of stay but we were always offered the best options available. This trek will remain in our heart for a long time. Not only my wife and I but our teenage kids had a great time.
Many compliments and thanks to our guide Shekar, and our asst guide/porter, Jerry from Off Road Adventures. They were available for every query and help throughout. Sangey gave all the right tips for this trip beforehand for good planning and personally drove us to the starting point at Dhotre.
Everest View Trek
Thanks Off Road and my awesome guide Shekhar Biswakarma for a tremendous trek to see Everest and Khangchendzonga. I had a wonderful time. Can’t wait to go on my next adventure with Off Road.
I highly recommend Off Road for any visitors to India. The company is extremely professional. Their guides are very personable and excellent English speakers, and wonderful people beyond that
